Cristian Andrieș — I build things for people.

I build things that matter, in places where they are needed most.

About

Engineering at the intersection of software, hardware and the people who use it

I have been building since ninth grade, when I forked a Discord bot so my friends’ server would work better. Nobody asked me to. That is still the whole method.

What I work on

  • Software Engineering

Full-stack product work, end to end. Shipped to users who notice when it breaks.

  • Robotics Programming

Autonomous and teleoperated code in Java, Kotlin, C++ and Python. Four seasons.

  • Product & Founding

Discovery, positioning and pitch. Finding out whether anyone needs the thing.

  • Systems & Infrastructure

A home lab built from recycled parts, and the unglamorous work of keeping it up.

The work I am known for

DeepGuard

Building AI to fight disinformation.

A single video can end a career or sway an election. Where we build from, that is not theoretical. Built for newsrooms and civil society groups who cannot publish what they have not verified.

What I do
with what I learned

Moldova has around thirty robotics teams. Most are stuck on the problems I was stuck on three years ago, so we host them in our lab for a week at a time.

History

How democracies form, and how they collapse. History is how knowledge compounds; without it every generation restarts from the same mistakes.

Music

Nine years of piano. I do not perform much now, but the habit of practising long past boredom came from there.

Still deciding

Robotics, AI, or bioengineering — my mother is a doctor. I would rather explore properly than pick early and pretend I was sure.
